Death Doula Alua Arthur Talks About Death

death-doula

Senior caregivers confront the reality of death in their daily work, caring for seniors who are losing loved ones and also thinking about their own end of life. Death doulas, just like doulas for child birth, are trained to assist the dying person to have a peaceful exit. Caregivers will often care for those who are terminally ill or have moved to hospice care, just like former President Jimmy Carter who recently announced that at age 98, he had chosen not to engage in any additional medical care to prolong his life. Hospice care just means that you will let nature take it’s course. Senior caregivers assisting those on hospice with their daily needs can learn ways to better talk about death from Death Doula’s who families may hire to assist them, too.

Hospice care may officially begin, offering all of the hospice services of Medicare, for seniors in the U.S.A., when someone has 2 years or less to live. This will include nurses and social workers who will discuss end-of-life wishes and assist families to manage ahead for the terminally ill person’s death.

However, most families don’t start hospice care until just weeks before the person becomes unable to function on their own. Caregivers do receive training on hospice care to understand the benefits.

Learn how to talk about death, in a way that allows you and your loved ones to take advantage of the healthiest way to say goodbye to a loved one.

Watch Death Doula Alua Arthur’s Ted Talk to learn how to start the conversation – and it so happens that she’s the sister of another well know marketing star, Bozoma Saint John, who lead Uber and Netflix’s marketing efforts, along with other companies while working through the loss of her husband to cancer.

Become trained as a senior caregiver to provide part-time or full-time care for seniors in their homes, including for seniors on hospice care who may also have a Death Doula assisting them with their end-of-life care.
