“Aging is just another word for Living” says Cindy Joseph, and senior women involved in fashion, arts, sports, and other activities into their 90’s and 100’s do not just inspire people of all ages but break stereotypes.

Iris Apfel, known as the “Geriatric Starlet”, passed away on March 1st, 2024 at age 102. Despite gaining recognition in her later years, Iris made a lasting impact on the fashion world with her bold fashion choices and fearless attitude. She signed a modelling contract at her age 97!

Iris shows that growing older doesn’t mean becoming invisible or stopping working when you are doing something you love.

“I absolutely consider fashion a form of art. Of course, a lot of people put effort into looking awful. But there are also people making bad art. It’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it”

– Iris Apfel

Another senior, Ruth Johnson Colvin, defies stereotypes of aging with her dedication to staying active and healthy. Even at age 105, she continues to challenge herself by practicing “Pilates”, proving that age is not a hindrance of achieving “Physical Fitness”.

They are showing us that age should never define our potential or limit our aspirations in life.
