Getting out of bed in the morning can be difficult, especially when you know a stressful day lies ahead. For caregivers, taking time for stress relief can help improve overall health and well-being. The Yoga Wake Up app helps caregivers start the day with meditation and some light exercise before they head off to work.
When caregivers open the Yoga Wake Up app, it takes them to a home screen with several options. Users can choose between browsing free morning wakeups, looking at different teacher and studio profiles, or selecting a program from different categories, such as From Bed, Get Up, Meditations or For Kids.
One of the most popular programs is called Rise & Shine. A mat is recommended for it, but caregivers can make do at home without one. It's only 9 minutes and 12 seconds long, so it won't take up too much time in the morning before caregivers have to get ready for work. An instructor tells users what to do at every point of the program, and they can start in bed. He gives instructions on when to inhale and exhale, as well as when to change physical positions.
If caregivers would like to learn more about the instructor, they can click on his or her name on the course screen to be taken to their personal website. When caregivers find a wakeup that they like, they can set it to play in the morning in place of an alarm. It needs to be downloaded to the user's phone to work in this way, and it will take up about 15 mb of space.
The Community tab in the app also shows posts from other users, mostly centered around healthy living. Many center around recipes and meditation tips, which caregivers may find useful in addition to the wakeups.
