Coupon App Helps Caregivers Save Money While Shopping

For caregivers on a tight budget, going grocery shopping might be a stressful experience. Comparing prices on similar items across several stores might be the best way to save money, but it's time consuming and difficult. The Krazy Coupon Lady app lets caregivers pick stores they already shop at to find discounts on items they may need to buy.

When users first open they Krazy Coupon Lady app, they can give the app permission to access their location and then choose from a list of local stores they'd like to use coupons for. Big chain stores are included in the search, such as CVS, Meijer, Family Dollar, Whole Foods, Target, etc.

Then users need to decide whether or not they'd like to receive notifications and emails from the app. The notifications would be to let caregivers know when there are new coupons for the stores they designated during set up.

The home screen on the app shows available coupons, too. Users can scroll through the selections and see if there's anything they'd like to buy. When caregivers see a deal they'd like to take advantage of, they can click the heart in the upper right hand corner of the screen and the coupon will save to their list of favorites.

Some of the "coupons" incorporate in-store sales and discounts from other apps, such as Ibotta. In general, the deals in-store have a photo of the price tag attached for reference. Every entry has a detailed view showing where the savings listed came from and how to redeem them. Sometimes it's a combination of in-store deals, manufacurer coupons and app deals. Users can make a list of coupons they'd like to use and another shopping list of items they need to buy regardless.

The Tips area of the app also shows a feed of more news-like content, such as companies mailing out free samples and articles about the retail world. The Brags section of the app allows users to post a photo of their shopping haul and share the savings they received with other users.

The Krazy Coupon Lady app is available for Apple and Android platforms.

Habit Tracker App Helps Caregivers Get Organized

For caregivers who lead hectic lives, setting and achieving goals can be much easier said than done. When you're busy working with senior clients, sometimes on a changing schedule, you can have every intention of making a change in your personal life, but then not lay out the steps to get where you want to be. Whether this pertains to exercise, healthy eating habits or even just taking some time for stress relief every week, the Today app gives caregivers a tool to easily track their habits.

When caregivers first open the app, they don't need to create an account to use it. It takes them to a screen with an optional tutorial of the app, and it instructs them to click the plus sign to get started. Caregivers first need to name their habit. It can be a phrase, such as "Go to the gym."

The next screen displays options for when users would like to complete this activity. The options include a frequency, such as daily, monthly or weekly, and an option for which specific days of the week they'd like to do that activity.  If you choose weekly or monthly, they can designate how many times each week or month, too. There's also a place for caregivers to decide if they'd like to be able to check in as doing that activity multiple times a day.

Then the app gives caregivers the option to set up reminders to complete their tasks. It will only display on the days the user has a task to complete at the time they select. Then they need to designate the start date for their task. It can be the day they're setting it up, or any date they choose in the future. Then the final step to set-up for a new habit is to pick a "cover" for the habit. There are a lot of different photos for caregivers to choose from.

The home screen for that goal will display the cover photo with the goal summary, and if users click the progress circle in the upper right corner, they can "check in" to track their activity. If they scroll down, they can see a calendar with how frequently they've completed the activity to track their progress. Here, caregivers can also see a summary of their current streak and longest streak for completing the activities.

The Today app is available for Apple platforms.

GasBuddy App Provides Cost Comparison For Caregivers

For senior caregivers on a tight budget, saving money wherever possible can make a big difference. Some monthly costs may be fixed, but others costs, like gas, change month to month. Caregivers can find the best local deals on gas using the GasBuddy app to save money.

When caregivers first download the GasBuddy app, they have the option of creating an account or simply skipping that step to use the app without an account. Either way, users are shown a home dashboard with information such as GasBuddy news, the range of local prices for gas, the best deal, etc.

The top button on the home screen says, "Find Gas Near You." If caregivers click on this button, it will take them to a search page to enter criteria. The app will default to use the caregiver's current location based on their phone's GPS, should the user allow it to access their location.

The default display is locations within a mile of the caregiver, and it relies on user-submitted information to pull all of the prices. Additional filtering options are available, such as fuel type, brands and amenities. When a caregiver visits a gas station, they can also verify that the price listed in the app is correct, or mark it as incorrect.

The app also features an area to enter to win $100 in free gas by doing various activities, such as reporting a gas price or completing your profile. The wallet area of the app also provides caregivers with the ability to link their checking account to the app and pay with their debit card at the pump to receive discounts. The news area of the app includes important location-based updates, such as access to fuel during natural disasters like Hurricane Irma.

The GasBuddy App is available for Apple and Android platforms.

For senior caregivers whose senior clients speak English as a second language, communication might be difficult. Sometimes, it might be easiest to try to communicate in their first language, whether that be Spanish, French or something different. The lesson includes a series of phrases, such as Hello, Good Morning and Good Evening, with accompany text and audio of how to say that phrase in the chose language. Users can listen to the audio and repeat the phrase to practice. Then, as the move through the program, the app will toss in occasssional quizzes on prior phrases to help make sure you are retaining the information.

Once caregivers complete the lesson, they can take the brief quiz to verify that they've learned the words. Once they score well on the quiz, they can move onto the next lesson. Lessons 2, 3 and 4 focus on about me, conversations and appearances. These are all little things caregivers can use to interact with their senior clients and give them a sense of familiarity in their first language. If a senior client doesn't speak English, they may also be interested in learning the basics to keep their minds active.
