Becoming a Senior Caregiver 2. February 2011 0 Caregiver Jobs (0) Professional caregivers assist with companion care and nursing aide care for seniors. Companion care means keeping the daily schedule of events on track, such as meals and medications and being there to help with any ordinary daily tasks. Many times seniors with memory loss or who are grieving from losing a loved one just need someone to talk with and to be there to help with meals, light housekeeping and errands. Nursing aide care involves more hands-on assistance such as help with bathing, toileting and dressing. Some seniors will require assistance from a certified nursing aide who is trained to assist with everything from feeding tubes to monitoring special diets and assisting with personal care needs.
