Timeful App Managers Caregiver Schedules, Suggests Times for Tasks: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

Senior caregivers lead busy lives between their caregiving duties, children or loved ones they need to care for in their own lives and personal errands. The Timeful app allows users to enter the times of their set tasks, such as work or appointments, into the calendar and then suggests times for the flexible tasks, such as making a phone call or answering e-mails.

Especially for caregivers who may not work the same hours every week or need to keep track of their senior clients' appointments in additional to personal appointments, scheduling can quickly become complicated. Having a well organized calendar that incorporates appointments and tasks helps relieve caregiver stress because there's less of a chance of forgetting to do something.

The Timeful app first syncs with all existing calendars on your phone, so if you have a calendar in place through Google calendar or another platform, it will pull all of your appointments from there. Then it asks which one time tasks you would like to accomplish during the day, and it allows you to drag and drop them into the daily calendar around what's already scheduled.

Caregivers who work varying schedules can enter in their work hours and any other standing personal appointments during a given week, and then select the option offered by the app to exercise three times per week. As a reoccurring feature, each week the app will suggest three times for you to spend a half an hour exercising to keep up with your goal. It also displays all day events at the top of the app and allows you to put a check mark next to tasks once you complete them.

The Timeful app is available for Apple platforms.

MapMyRun App Suggests Run Routes, Tracks Progress: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

Exercise, particularly cardio, provides stress relief and fitness for senior caregivers to maintain health. The MapMyRun app makes it easy for anyone to start running and track their progress over time by offering suggested routes using GPS and tracking distance run, time and calories burned.

Running provides a great exercise option because it allows the user to set the pace of the activity, so caregivers can start out their training regime by alternating between walking and running and then build up to more vigorous and continual running as their endurance improves. Caregivers can select a suggested running route from those built into the app with set mile lengths such as roughly 2.5 or 5 miles, or they can simply start running and the GPS function on their phone will pick up on the route as they run.

The Live Tracking option that can be enabled allows users and their friends within the app to see the progress of the run as it takes place. Once a run is complete, the app provides stats including overall distance, duration and pace. Users also have the ability to enter a run into the system after it has occurred if they were unable to use their phone to log it as they ran.

Listening to music during a workout can help motivate the runner, so the app also allows users to select a playlist to play while they run without having to switch back and forth from MapMyRun to the music app on their phone. Once users begin to log runs on a regular basis, they can look at their log of runs and see how their health and endurance have improved. The paid version of the app also includes extra features, such as a coaching function to help encourage runners and assist them in getting the most out of their workout.

MapMyRun is available for Apple and Android platforms.

Happier App Logs Positive Moments for Stress Relief: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

Stress relief for senior caregivers plays a large part in living a healthy life. Caregiving can be quite stressful both physically and emotionally, so after a day of working with senior clients the Happier app gives caregivers a chance to reflect on the positive moments of the day and see what others in the community post as being positive, too.

The Happier app is comprised of three basic sections: Learn, Share Happy and Community. The Learn section features several video lessons designed to improve your life by making small changes in your daily routine. Professional coaches worked on the courses on topics such as yoga, meditation and learning to be grateful in everyday life. The self paced courses all require in-app purchases and range in price based on the activity and the length of the course, but they come with a money back guarantee and can be accessed via mobile or on the web.

The next section titled Share Happy allows caregivers to track the happy moments of their day in a log to look back on when they're feeling stressed. Caregivers can share a happy moment they shared with a senior client, a story about a compliment they received while at work or something as simple as seeing some flowers in bloom that made them smile. The log allows users to add a photograph to each entry and connect to social networks to share the entry with their friends or lock it for personal viewing only.

The community section of the app allows Caregivers to view what their friends have entered as public in their Happier logs. Caregivers can connect with other senior caregivers they know who use the app and create a support community to use the app and give each other encouragement by commenting on one another's entries. If none of your social media friends are on Happier, users also have an opportunity to see Featured entries and Nearby entries. If you're having a bad day or need a moment for stress relief, open the app and scroll through what's making other people happy.

The Happier app is available for Apple platforms.

SleepGenius App Uses Guided Program for Quality Night of Sleep: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

For senior caregivers and their senior clients, catching a full night of rest can be difficult. Caregiver stress can cause difficulty falling asleep and affect the sleep cycle, so caregivers may wake up after a night of restless sleep and feel just as tired as when they went to bed. The SleepGenius app uses music scientifically created to soothe the brain into its natural sleep cycles and features an alarm clock specifically designed to ease the user out of sleep instead of jar them awake.

Falling asleep to music or the calming sounds of nature that some other apps offer can seem soothing, but the sounds in the SleepGenius app are scientifically proven to evoke certain reactions from the user's brain to set them into their natural sleep patterns. The research done for the app originally served to help develop ways for astronauts to fall asleep on trips to space.

The basic layout of the app makes it easy to navigate. The home screen features two options- sleep and revive cycle alarm. On the sleep screen, users can choose from a 90 or 180 minute program to help them fall asleep and into their first sleep cycles, or the continuous program which plays through the entire night. The paid version of the app also features a power nap option. The revive cycle alarm helps ease the user out of sleep instead of simply playing a loud noise to abruptly wake the user.

Another section of the app offers tips for a night of quality sleep. It recommends using the same program night after night so that the user's brain falls into a pattern and consistently gets a good night of sleep. Quality sleep helps relieve some caregiver stress and helps make sure caregivers are ready to face the day fully rested.

The SleepGenius app is available for free for Apple and Android platforms.

Powerful Brain App Provides Jokes and Brain Teasers for Caregiver Stress Relief

Caregiver stress relief is important to take the weight of a difficult job and make it a little lighter. Laughter helps eliminate stress and take our minds off a long day and it's rough moments. The Powerful Brain app features classic jokes to give caregivers a laugh and brain teasers to share with senior clients.

The jokes in this app mostly fall into the corny but amusing category, using plays on words and one liners in their punch lines. Nonetheless, they'll work to bring a smile to your face and lighten the mood after a long day. Caregiver stress relief through laughter specifically increases blood flow, promotes relaxation and boosts the immune system. The brain teasers are clever and somewhat silly, similar to the jokes, but they also help lighten the mood and caregivers can share them with their senior clients to help keep their minds active. The How it Works section also offers fun facts and useful tidbits. The facts in this section have no connectivity to one another but still provide insight to the world.

The app features 87 jokes in total, 120 facts and 124 brain teasers, so there's enough material to keep caregivers engaged with the app for quite some time. Unlike some other apps which have a free level and a paid level, all of the content in Powerful Brain is free of charge. The app layout may be basic, but it's easy to navigate and the layout color is customizable as a fun extra. Give yourself a little laugh or try to solve a clever little brain teaser to take some weight off of your day.

The Powerful Brain app is available for free for Apple platforms.

Stress Relief App Offers Relaxation for Caregivers: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

Working as a senior caregiver can amount to a high level of stress, particularly on rough days. Without an outlet to relieve stress, caregivers may feel overwhelmed. To maintain a healthy balance, caregivers should develop a stress relief routine. Exercising, looking at calming images or meditating are all good examples of stress relief activities for caregivers. To unwind and let go of the events of the day, try the Take a Break stress relief/meditation app.

The app features one basic concept- a voiceover with a guided stress relief mental exercise. The app allows the user to choose from two basic guided meditation categories- a work break or for stress relief. Then the user can customize the experience by selecting background music or calming nature sounds as background noise for the experience.

The beginning of the meditation asks caregivers to let go of the pressure of the day. One of the opening lines asks users to let go of whatever they feel that they have to do today and just relax. They go on to describe a sense of pressure that the user may be feeling and ask them to feel it in their body and then let go of it. As the meditation continues, caregivers can focus on their breathing and letting go of the stress weighing them down.

With only two options for the guided programs, some caregivers may not connect well with this particular option for meditation. Every person finds their own relaxation techniques in life, and what some people find relaxing, others may find doesn't particularly move them. Try finding the best way for you personally to relieve your stress.

The Take a Break app is available for free for Apple and Andriod platforms.
