Alive and Well App Provides Wellness Tips to Support New Years Resolutions: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

The beginning of a new year brings New Years Resolutions to improve our lives. Eating healthier, exercising and keeping better track of budgets rank among the more common resolutions. Senior caregivers can incorporate wellness into their daily lives in 2014 using the Alive and Well app, which offers resources and tips to develop an overall healthy lifestyle.

The home screen of the app shares a "Health Tip of the Day" which range from a suggested food to include in your diet to explaining the correlation between aging and lifestyle. To ensure healthy aging, the tip suggests seniors exercise and maintain a healthy diet. The app also features coupons and specials for the Alive and Well store, which is based in Ohio. Users can purchase items at the physical location or online for shipment if they live in a different part of the country. They offer gluten free, organic and vegan items for caregivers or their senior clients who may have dietary restrictions.

Another portion of the app breaks down recipes into user-friendly categories such as Time Savers, Easy, Elegant Entrees, Macrobiotic, Delectable Desserts and Low Fat & Low Calorie. Once you select a category, you can browse through all the recipes until you find one that suits your needs. There is a vast variety of recipes featured- from Curried Split Pea Soup to Sauerkraut and Tempeh Skillet.

The various parts of the app connect well together and allow the overall user experience to flow. Even though the app is created by a store, it features wellness first and advertising for their products as a secondary thought, which leaves the main focus on living a healthy lifestyle.

The Alive and Well app is available for Apple and Android platforms.

The Weather Channel App Helps Caregivers Plan Ahead: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

The weather affects decisions and plans in everyone's lives, but particularly for senior caregivers being prepared for inclement weather helps insure safety of their senior clients. For example, if snow with the potential for ice looms on the forecast, caregivers know that the risk of a senior client slipping and falling increases. The Weather Channel app provides up to date and detailed forecasts by the hour or day for up to ten days in advance so caregivers can be prepared.

As weather predictions fluctuate in the days leading up to the present day, the hourly and next 36 hour predictions in the app offer the most useful and accurate information. The hourly section provides a glimpse of the temperature and chance of precipitation for each hour of the day, so users can see if the morning is going to be sunny and clear but then around 3 pm the temperature drops and it will rain heavily. The 36 hours section shows more details on high and low temperatures for the day as well as information on any wind and type of precipitation. Knowing the details of the weather for the day can help caregiver know if they need to grab sunscreen or an umbrella before leaving the house, as well as how to dress for optimal comfort for that day.

Users can monitor the weather for several cities in the app, which is useful for setting your current city as the default and putting any other destinations as secondary. Just for fun, if your senior client has loved ones who live out of town, you can also add their cities to the app so your senior client can stay up to date on how the weather is treating them.

The Weather Channel app is available for free for AppleAndroid and Windows products.

C.N.A. Test Prep App Provides Practice Questions: Caregiverlist Senior Care App Review

Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) increases the number of job opportunities available to a senior caregiver. Certified Nursing Assistants help take care of bedridden patients, assist with dressing, bathing and feeding and take vital signs among other personal and nursing duties. Senior caregivers who wish to pursue becoming a C.N.A. can look into schools in their state that offer training programs. Before receiving certification, caregivers must past a C.N.A. qualifying exam. Caregiverlist offers a sample test to give caregivers an idea of what to expect on the exam.

To review questions and study for the exam on the go, the MedPreps CNA Test Prep app offers free practice C.N.A. test questions for senior caregivers. The app features approximately 1,000 questions covering topics that could appear on the test, from client rights to activities of daily living to communication issues. Users are presented with a question with four multiple choice answers at the bottom. The app indicates an incorrect answer by lighting up red and a correct answer by highlighting the choice in green. No matter which answer is chosen, a box in the right corner labeled "Explain," brings up a screen that explains the correct answer in detail.

The app enables caregivers to study for the test at any opportunity where they might have ten spare minutes. Try answering just five questions each day while enrolled in C.N.A. school while riding public transit or before bed. Look at which questions you originally missed as the test approaches and see if you can answer them correctly now.

App Name: CNA Test Prep

Available for free for Apple and Android platforms. Limited questions are available in the free edition, unlock all questions in the paid version of the app.
